Escape from City 17 brings Half-Life to the streaming screen
February 15th - 23 Responses

With game-based movies being as big a disappointment as we expected, we’re extremely glad to see it being done right! With a hint of Battlestar Galactica, the commercial and film production super-team, The Purchase Brothers have taken their love for Half-Life, compiled a brilliant cast, along with respectable special effects, to create a guerrilla style production of Half-Life 2, titled “The Escape from City 17″.

The first two episodes were a gamble, made with a budget of around $500 (!!!), no crew, not very much time, no script and lots of post-processing effects and tricks. And all of this seems to be done with Valve’s approval, flying the brothers out to Seattle to meet and remaining in communication since.

The Magic Show, covering everything Magic: The Gathering
December 20th - 3 Responses

I have no clue what language is being used 90% of the time in this video, but I just recently stumbled-upon the latest episode of The Magic Show, a regular video-reportage on the up-to-date happenings from the Magic: The Gathering world. Following some championship matches in Philadelphia and Memphis, I’m kind of stuck in-between utter confusion and complete interest.

EVE Online demos walking in stations at EVE FanFest
December 18th - 2 Responses

At the most recent EVE Online FanFest, EVE developers gave attendees a long demo finally showing the first version of in-game characters, walking around space stations. A huge milestone and an exciting one for the massive multi-player which for many years has locked their players into their ships.

Showing a darkly lit, nicely animated in-station world, complete with shops and mini-games playable against others, EVE Online is taking one step closer to becoming a 3rd person MMO!

Crazy Frenchman does real-life Mario Kart
December 5th - 6 Responses

Courtesy of the certifiable Remi Gaillard, French “comedian” and video producer, we’ve got the funniest thing I’ve seen in, say, 1 or 2 minutes. Remi donned the traditional Mario costume, jumped on a racing kart and tore through the streets of Marseilles, tossing banana peels and pissing off as many other drivers as possible. French comedy at it’s best? Sadly so.

Legend of Zelda fan-pic wraps up post-production
November 30th - 215 Responses

Campiness alert! The community-developed, live-action (with some CGI) movie based on the Legend of Zelda (And Ocarina of Time) games from Nintendo has made it past post-production! What this means is, as much of the campiness and cheese has been covered up with as many special effects as possible with Apple’s MovieMaker and we might see this years old production debut soon! In Atlanta we hear, in the “not so distant future”. Must watch, though will cringe during.

Though only a moderate success for the Wii, having sold in the area of 350,000 copies worldwide, No More Heroes has grown to become a cult classic for the Nintendo Wii, giving Westerner’s a look at how talented Japanese developers view the mature action market over here, dominated by GTA.

Little kid learns a better way to win stuffed toys
September 26th - 15 Responses

I always had similar thoughts in the arcade as a kid, climb through that little hole, into the machine and a soft wonderland of stuffed toys, cheap watches and fake aluminum jewelry. Good job little Lisa, Beau, Dolly or whatever your name is. You’ve made arcade loving children, and adults, proud.

In love with Patapon
February 18th - 3 Responses

The PSP is warming up to me again with many of the newer games that are appearing from Asia. From Loco Roco now to Patapon, a lovely, hyper-stylish title where you take on the role of God to the Patapon. You lead their charges fighting evil invaders via drum-based patterns and watch as little black squigglies attack and kill out of control red squirmies which sometimes resemble dragons, sometimes not. Now Sony, what is going on with Limbo!!!?!?!

Toyata ad based in World of Warcraft
October 10th - No Responses

Toyata goes Viral, by placing a Toyota truck into World of Warcraft and overdubbing it with a humorous homage to Leeroy Jenkins. I wonder though, how many level 70 mages would drive a Tundra 4×4?
