The time has come as Introversion’s newest title, DEFCON is going live at this very moment. Introversion’s online store has been hammered all day, even Steam is a touch slow at the moment. I predict great things for DEFCON and Introversion, with DEFCON possibly even being more successful than Darwinia, dare I say it. It’s too late now to get the pre-order bonuses, sorry folks, if you had pre-ordered through Introversion, you would have gotten a digital download and a boxed copy mailed to you, if you ordered through Steam, you would have gotten $5 off, making this amazing game only $9.95. Two Steam posts in a row, oh my! Well, if anyone deserves to be talked about as much as the Wii it’s Double Fine’s super under-rated Psychonauts. A brilliant title, dropped by Microsoft early on, then picked up by Majesco, the little publisher that in the end, couldn’t. While Psychonauts is an extremely fun, artistic and enjoyable game, which was highly rated, it just fizzled out in the charts, possibly due to Majesco’s financial troubles, possibly due to the games market’s infatuation with Madden, who knows. But Majesco is coming back, with an interesting announcement that Psychonauts will be available soon via Valve’s innovative Steam download service, giving me yet another reason to actually turn on my PC.

DEFCON is one of our most anticipated titles of the year currently being polished before release at Indie-powerhouse Introversion Software, makers of the cult-classic Darwinia. Due for release September 29th, DEFCON is a modern take on War Games, allowing you and your friends to anhialate each other in a multi-player, thermonuclear showdown, where everybody dies. Currently on pre-order at Valve’s games portal, Steam, you can pick up DEFCON at an amazing $9.95 US + any appicable taxes, a great deal for what will definitely be the sleeper hit of the year.

As reported by our sister site several weeks ago, DEFCON, the latest game from indie-heartthrobs Introversion Software has been confirmed for a September 2006 release. After going through some delays we were naturally a bit skeptical, but, we kept believing in Introversion. So we were glad to hear today that Valve has officially confirmed that DEFCON will be hitting Steam in September 2006, as planned, probably for the low low price point of $19.95, which is what Introversion’s previous title Darwinia hit Steam for. DEFCON is an online, competitive multiplayer strategy game about thermonuclear war (think War Games with Matthew Broderick) and is a hell of a lot of fun.
