Snoopy vs The Red Baron a reason to actually turn on your PSP?

Snoopy vs The Red Baron

I haven’t had a reason to actually use my PSP in ages. In fact, I don’t even know where it is, no doubt buried somewhere in a drawer somewhere collecting dust on it’s spectacular screen. But, I think soon I’ll have to dig it out, charge up the pitiful battery and actually start playing again, with the release of Snoopy vs The Red Baron. Playing as the WWI Flying Ace himself, your goal of course is to hunt the Red Baron, tracking him through six 3D environments, with varying styles of flight game play, from races to dogfights, to mission-based task completion. Planes are upgradeable and you can have Woodstock running shotgun with a guidable missile upgrade! There’s also 1-6 player multi-player dogfights on the PSP version, which means your friend’s will also have a reason to dig out their PSPs and take a break from World of Warcraft.

PS3 gets Dolby Digital with TrueHD surround sound, Wii gets Pro Logic II

The dream-rear of the PS3

Dolby Labs announced today what it’s support for the Nintendo Wii and Sony PS3 consoles will be. The Wii will utilize Dolby’s Pro Logic II, giving audiophile Wii fans a bit of a shot, but, inline with Nintendo’s stance on gameplay over technology. Dolby PLII is a non-digital, “5.1″ technology which is currently used by the last generation consoles as well as the Microsoft 360. The Sony PS3 naturally will be a different story. Costs be damned, Sony went all out, including Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound for games and Dolby Digital with Dolby TrueHD for 7.1 channels of pure Blu-Ray movie playback bliss, for those who decide to sell a kidney in order to actually buy the thing.

Afrika PS3 video, what exactly is this?

Afrika for the PS3

I have absolutely no clue what Afrika for the PS3 is about, but it looks amazing as one would expect for a next-gen title. The only problem is I’ve not found much information on what exactly the game will be like, if a game at all. At first look, I’d take an uneducated guess and state that it looks to be similar to Wildlife Tycoon: Venture Africa for the PC/Mac, which is an interesting concept for a next-gen console. Anyone able to shed more light on this?

Sony delays EU PS3 launch and marketing

This is Living??

Europe gets screwed again, this time with Sony delaying the EU launch of the PS3 due to manufacturing time constraints (screw Blu-Ray, seriously) and PAL conversion delays. The Sony PS3 will continue as planned with a November release in the US and Japan, following with a March 2007 release in Europe, Russia, Australia and everywhere else on Earth. Sony have also delayed their “This is Living” short-films for the EU territories, since naturally there’s no need to start the marketing so soon. We’re dead set on the Wii60 bundle personally, so it doesn’t quite effect us, but this is certainly more bad press for Sony, which has been stumbling all over the place with this launch and there are still rumours of 1st party devs not even having final dev-kits floating around.

Sony Europe releases short PS3 trailer for upcoming This is Living short films

Sony Playstation 3 - This is Living

Sony Europe recently released a video trailer launching the advertising campaign for the PS3 and it’s new slogan, This is Living. Though I often find myself asking that same question, I find that the video, while a beautiful work of cinematography, doesn’t give much information at all about the PS3. There appears to be 6 short films being launched throughout Europe over the coming weeks, promoting the PS3 and it’s slogan, though, whether any of the videos will actually show anything interesting that remains to be seen. I know that Sony’s award-winning marketing efforts have always been top notch, but, I personally am a little tired of feeling as if Sony just expects me to buy in, without really giving me a reason to.

Final Fantasy XII is scheduled for release October 31, 2006 for the Sony Playstation 2.
