Limbo hiring a C++ programmer

Limbo

Limbo, the beautiful platformer from Arnt Jensen, Danish artist and game designer, has announced that they are hiring. Always good news to see an indie game company hiring, Arnt is looking for a developer (C++) to aid in the creation of Limbo, a game which is being backed by the Danish government to some degree. The artwork is brilliant and Arnt certainly knows his way around the industry, having done artwork in the past for major developers. Someone take this job quickly and get Limbo out (preferrably via Steam and/or Manifesto!).

Intel to acquire Nvidia?
October 5th - 8 Responses

Nvidia

Wall Street was buzzing yesterday with rumours that Intel would be announcing a takeover shortly, which led many to believe that Nvidia was in the sights of big blue. Since AMD’s takeover of ATI, speculation has been ripe that Intel would need to follow suit, with many investors thinking that Nvidia be the natural victim, with more than twice the normal volume of Nvidia stocks being traded yesterday over normal. The graphics war is still going strong, but, the question must be asked, what happens if this acquisition turns out to be true and I want an Intel CPU with an ATI graphics card? Hmmmmmm?!

DEFCON going live at this very moment

DEFCON

The time has come as Introversion’s newest title, DEFCON is going live at this very moment. Introversion’s online store has been hammered all day, even Steam is a touch slow at the moment. I predict great things for DEFCON and Introversion, with DEFCON possibly even being more successful than Darwinia, dare I say it. It’s too late now to get the pre-order bonuses, sorry folks, if you had pre-ordered through Introversion, you would have gotten a digital download and a boxed copy mailed to you, if you ordered through Steam, you would have gotten $5 off, making this amazing game only $9.95. On with the desctruction!

Alan Wake full video presentation from Intel Quad Processor presentation

Alan Wake

YouTube saves the day, again. Recently, Intel held a huge presentation to showoff their upcoming monster quad core processors, which will hopefully begin appearing at the end of this year (preferably on new iMacs, which I plan on buying). To show off the power of the Quad Procs, Remedy was invited on-stage to demo their new upcoming psychological thriller, Alan Wake (A. Wake), running on a monster Intel Duo Quad Core system, overclocked to 3.73 GHz and an Nvidia graphics card. Though not the highest of quality video, one can see that Remedy has done an amazing job at recreating Twin Peak’s lush and open environment, which I would wager to say was one of their goals. It’s a shame their animation system looks as clunky and ugly as Max Payne’s.

Watch the video presentation after the jump..

Can your PC run that game?

System Requirements Lab

Ever wonder how that latest greatest FPS will look on your PC? Well wonder no longer thanks to the System Requirements Lab, a group running a very handy service which allows you to compare your PC’s specs to the minimum specs of around 200 current PC titles, with more being added daily. You use the service by first choosing the title you want to check your PC against, then you’ll have to download a small JAVA or ActiveX applet which records your system components and compares them against the minimum specs of the game you’ve chosen. Naturally the service isn’t a science with which to live your gaming life by, but for a hardcore PC gamer, it’s a handy service with which to stroke your ego to.
