Psychonauts, the legendary action platformer from game design guru Tim Schafer is now available via direct download via Valve’s Steam download service. Fast, cheap and with little effort on your part, you can get an amazing amazing game straight to your computer for only $19.95.

Psychonauts via Steam

Two Steam posts in a row, oh my! Well, if anyone deserves to be talked about as much as the Wii it’s Double Fine’s super under-rated Psychonauts. A brilliant title, dropped by Microsoft early on, then picked up by Majesco, the little publisher that in the end, couldn’t. While Psychonauts is an extremely fun, artistic and enjoyable game, which was highly rated, it just fizzled out in the charts, possibly due to Majesco’s financial troubles, possibly due to the games market’s infatuation with Madden, who knows. But Majesco is coming back, with an interesting announcement that Psychonauts will be available soon via Valve’s innovative Steam download service, giving me yet another reason to actually turn on my PC.

Double Fine working on unannounced title for Vivendi

Double Fine, the doubly good development studio started by games design god Tim Schafer and creator of one of the most under-rated titles in gaming, Psychonauts, is revealed to be working on an unannounced title for Vivendi Games subsidiary, Sierra. The revelation came from a recent investor presentation given by Vivendi Games, where it was buried (under all the World of Warcraft mess) that Doublefine is an external studio working on an unannounced project. No further information or timeframe were given, but you can be sure that we’ll be hearing about it as soon as Schafer is ready.
