Blizzard

Blizzard today announced its second gaming convention, BlizzCon 2007, giving addicts World of Warcraft fans everywhere collective wood over what convention-only pet they can get this year. Taking place August third and fourth in Anaheim, California, attendees can expect discussion panels with Blizzard developers, autograph sessions, competitions, tournaments and lots of people dressed as elves and orcs. All I’m waiting for is some form of new announcement regarding Starcraft 2 (beta rumored to be announced in South Korea soon) or maybe World of Diablo? Hmmm HMMMMM???

The Burning Crusade

Many, many, many, many many people are losing their shit in anticipation of World of Warcraft’s upcoming expansion, The Burning Crusade. Dropping January 16, 2007 in the US and EU, The Burning Crusade is increasing the level cap to 70, the killer feature will most certainly suck WoW’s certainly reverse WoW’s slowly increasing burnrate, along with many new spells and talents for each class and two new playable races (Blood Elves and Draenai), among many other additions.

Medieval, Warcraft-cloan for pocket PCs
December 7th - No Responses

Medieval

Those of you lucky enough to own a modern pocket PC (like the Dell Axim x51v, Pocket Loox 720 or HP iPAQ h2210 for instance) will be happy to hear about Medieval, a new “Warcraft III clone” that is being ported to mobile devices by a handful of German programmers with lots of time on their hands. Though it looks to be more of a Warcraft II clone, I’m wondering how Blizzard will react if/when this comes to their attention, seeing as how copyright-conscious the Bliz are when it comes to their original IP. Medieval is currently available as an early alpha build for pocket PC mobile devices.

World of Warcraft

Blizzard has added a feature to their website allowing users to view up to date statistics on some of the many data points contained within the massively massive multiplayer world. The WoW stats allow you to see the most auctioned items (Runecloth), most dangerous NPCs (Drek’Thar), most looted items (Linen Cloth), most created items (Soul Shard), most complete quests (A Threat Within) and the most gathered items (Chopper Ore). Whew. So go forth statistics nerds and bury yourself in gobs and gobs of data related to the game everyone loves to hate.

Every WoW fan’s dream comes true, Whores of Warcraft launches

Whores of Warcraft

From the title I hope you all realize that the link below is beyond NSFW, so don’t even try it, unless of course you are the boss and can do whatever you want or need to perform, uh, “research”. An interesting meeting of industries occurred recently with the launch of Whores of Warcraft, a porn site featuring professional porn stars who also happen to be fans of World of Warcraft, recreating characters and scenes from World of Warcraft, mainly some of the unofficial, um, ’scenes’ that we all know happen in WoW alllllll the time. Come on all you Night Elves, you know what we’re talking about. Each episode is available for digital download, selling for around $8 a pop, with the second episode being released soon. Er, so I’ve heard…

World of Warcraft pets guide

Whoa, we’re beginning to think this would fit in better over at Bunch of Nerds, but you know, World of Warcraft, games, Playthrough, games. You get the idea. Dianius is addicted to pets it seems and he’s collected just about every cute little creature you can in WoW (he points out that he’s covering the non-Hunter pets btw), which means it’s time to write a guide on collecting pets! He includes a screenshot, featuring 42 of his pets, with names, locations and ways to actually acquire them (even the “rare” Pet Rock!). WoW-porn or a highly useful guide, it’s Playthrough recommended and approved.

Twin Peaks opening credits World of Warcraft style
September 12th - One Response

Sadly a work in progress and somewhat unfinished, a resourceful Twin Peaks fan is currently re-creating the opening of Lynch’s television masterpiece within World of Warcraft. No word on if the creator will eventually finish his project, but so far it’s looking like he/she/it are on the right track, let’s just hope they can be persuaded to finish what is shaping up to be a cool example of video games meeting snooty high-television art.

Watch the current progress after the jump..
