Nintendo DSi launchs in Japan, sells 170,000 in 2 days

The new Nintendo DS, known as the DSi has launched in Japan and it’s a beauty. Featuring a three megapixel camera and improved sound, allowing for pitch and playback adjustment, the new DS is packed full of other improvements. Clocking in at a full 12% thinner than the DS Lite, with an SD memory slot (same as on the Wii) and a 17% larger screen (3.25 inches) makes this version of the DS a huge improvement in my opinion. Don’t even get me started about the online capabilities, such as the built-in web browser and the ability to access the DSi Shop.

With only 2 days under it’s belt, Japan’s Enterbrain is estimating that sales have already passed 170,000, making the rumor of an initial 200,000 shipment almost sold out. Enterbrain is speculating that a further 100,000 consoles are being shipped out to handle the demand.

This thing will blow UP when it reaches the states. License to print money, indeed. Check the video below for some hot footage of the DSi in action.
