Not Beautiful Katamari

Editor’s Note: Please excuse our lack of posts lately. Playthrough and it’s sister blogs are in a transitional phase, with many changes behind the scenes taking place, which will all become apparent in the near future. Thanks again for your return visits and patience, we hope to get back to our regularly scheduled program shortly.

According to rumors from IGN, the upcoming sequel to Katamari Damacy, Beautiful Katamari, has run into trouble over at Namco Bandai. Sources are stating that the Sony PS3 version of the upcoming title has been axed, thanks to development issues and stalling sales of the extremely-overpriced PS3 console. Resources have supposedly been re-shifted to the Wii version of Beautiful Katamari.

Wow that is so biased. Overpriced is what the 360 is after you buy the failing HD DVD drive, a memory card for saves, a dvd remote to access a feature already avaible, wifi if needed, batteries for your wireless controller, a wireless controller if you have a wired one, a rechargebale battery pack if you didn’t have a rechargeable controller, a WAY over priced proprietary HDD drive if you don’t have one or 20GB isn’t enough (when is it) priced at 180 for 120 GB when you can pay 40 more dollars and get 500 GB on the PS3….

Screw you blogger that comment was just too biased. You want to know the real reason it was cancelled? Probably why Saint’s Row 1 was cancelled… The PS3 is a great piece of technology that rewrites all the rules for making games. Because of that not every developer can handle properly using it and if they don’t have enough time resources etc… to not only cover the development cost, educational cost to work with the PS3, and the production cost, then it’s easy to see why they would drop it. The Wii has many more people and is far easier to develop for. It’s pretty obvious where the sales will be and most people should own a Wii as their second console anyway.

Next time try actually reporting or atleast a healthy dose of decent speculation rather than spouting Xbot generic rantings. Take the features of the PS3, add those to the price of the 360 and the PS3 has almost always come out cheaper so take it and shove it.

I wouldn’t say the ps3 is overpriced when you look at what it can actually do, for starters it has a blu-ray player on which on it’s own would cost around £250, you can install linux on the ps3 and use it as a true desktop, a similar desktop with as much processing power as the ps3 would set you back around £300 - £350 so just those 2 points alone make it half price what it would be if you bought those items seperately.
