Nintendo hit with class action lawsuit over Wii strap
December 18th - One Response

Sharks, beware

Let the sharks loose! Ever on the cutting edge of class action lawsuits, American law firms in California, Washington and Texas have filed suit against Nintendo for providing “defective” remotes and straps to owners of the Nintendo Wii, ‘causing’ users to damage televisions, screens and even themselves. Seriously people, there are invisible rays floating through the air that are highly sensitive to your movements, you don’t have to flail around like a shark attack victim. Oh, funny, I said sharks again.

Can’t they invent some plague, or virus, or some biological tool that makes these lawyers suffer a slow, painful death in which their corpse is left in a hideous pool of their own bile?

It’s one thing when Sony is trying to dump rootkits on your PC. Here, however, Nintendo - probably the last vestige of a true gaming corporation that listens to its customerbase - voluntarily investigates the matter and voluntarily recalls the product for replacement with a re-designed strap. What else are they supposed to do? Am I really supposed to believe that a gaming joypad having a defective strap (currently available via a limited launch) has led to nation-wide chaos, mayhem, destruction, illness, serious bodily injury, death, mental anguish/suffering, etc? Mine hasn’t killed me (yet?).

Now Nintendo will have to waste loads of both time and money on lawyers, court costs, etc. And where will the majority of this money go? Into slimy lawyer’s pockets and maybe one (or a few) lucky class representatives.

This has NOTHING to do with consumer protection, just some lawyers using an opportunity to get rich at the EXPENSE of consumers and making a joke of the “justice” system.

Review the facts and the likely outcome, and tell me who wins. Honestly, I hope these lawyers suffer excruciatingly painful deaths. Some type of spreading anal cancer.
